Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas, Westlake Village and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art. 

Essential Duties: 
Lead and perform on creative R&D projects in the development of MEMS and NEMS devices, sensors and systems for next generation aerospace, automotive, defense and other commercial products. Conduct theoretical analysis, design, simulation, fabrication and characterization of advanced MEMS and integrated sensor devices. Must be able to work well in a creative team environment and possess excellent communication skills.

Required Skills:
Desired experience includes multi-physics simulation, computer-aided design and layout, micro/nano fabrication, electrical and/or optical testing of MEMS sensors and actuators. Experience in prototyping and integrating interface electronics with MEMS is a plus. Must have authored scientific publications and given technical presentations. Experience with government proposal writing is also desirable. Knowledge in novel materials for MEMS and NEMS sensor transduction mechanisms is desired. Sensitivity and noise analysis plus performance characterization of inertial sensors and ultra-stable frequency standards and their associated drive and control electronics are also desirable. Knowledge of energy dissipation mechanisms in MEMS and NEMS devices is desirable. Specific knowledge in the physics, design, fabrication and characterization of electrostatic, piezoelectric, magnetic, opto-mechanic, photonic and/or RF MEMS devices is also desirable.

Required Education:
Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related discipline. 

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform safely in a MEMS microfabrication cleanroom and electronics test facility.

Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required. May be required to travel.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $132,765 - $165,983 + bonus + benefits.
