HRL Laboratories, LLC, leadership and staff are excited to announce Pamela Fletcher, Vice President of Global Innovation and Research & Development (R&D) Laboratories for General Motors, is joining HRL’s Board of Directors.

Fletcher leads the teams at GM whose mission aims to disrupt traditional automotive industry norms. As VP of Global Innovation, she focuses on business model innovation and oversees new businesses from start-up through scaling.  In R&D Fletcher directs seven laboratories located around the world, with concentration on developing technologies such as battery chemistry, mixed materials science, smart manufacturing systems, and vehicle-to-infrastructure technology.

Previously Fletcher oversaw the development of GM’s electric and autonomous vehicle programs.  She brings a well-established record of delivering products to market more effectively and ahead of competitors.  Her teams were responsible for the Chevrolet Volt and the Bolt EV, the first mass market, long-range car produced at an affordable price point. She also led the team behind Super Cruise, the first hands-free highway driver assist system.

“We are honored to welcome Pam Fletcher to the HRL Board of Directors,” said HRL President and CEO Parney Albright. “Her experience and expertise in electric and autonomous vehicle technology couldn’t be a better fit with a large portion of our research here at HRL. We share Pam’s vision of the coming age of personal transportation and look forward to her insight and what I expect will be her major contributions to HRL’s goals and achievements.”

Fletcher earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering, at Kettering University in Flint, Mich. and Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich., respectively. She also is a graduate of the Executive Development Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, the Stanford Graduate School of Business Transformational Leadership Program, and the Harvard Women on Boards Program.
