Roberto Vasquez Joins HRL Laboratories as New CEO

Malibu, CA July 8, 2024 –HRL Laboratories, LLC, today announced that Dr. Roberto (Rob) Vasquez has joined the company as President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Dr. Penrose (Parney) C. Albright, who retired on July 5, 2024.

We are confident he will continue to build on HRL’s current successes in pioneering the frontiers of science and engineering.”

Under Albright’s nearly decade-long tenure, HRL experienced a period of significant growth and success. His leadership introduced new programs and increased HRL’s reputation as a world-class organization.

Vasquez comes to HRL most recently from General Atomics, where he served as Chief Operating Officer, Energy Group. He has also held leadership roles at Leidos, SAIC, Boeing and Hughes Space and Communications. Throughout his career Vasquez has been drawn to working with state-of-the-art technology and the challenge of creating first-of-a-kind products and finding a market for them. He holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in engineering from Stanford University, a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Master of Business Administration from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
